How to Volunteer with Sea Turtles

Volunteers are critical to the success of many sea turtle conservation organizations. Without the work of volunteers and money from ecotourism, it would be impossible for organizations such as Turtle Trax to fund the research and protection of turtles.

Lending a hand at one of our projects is a wonderful chance to be involved in on-the-ground sea turtle protection, meet other adventuresome individuals from all around the world and experience the natural beauty and local culture of some of the most pristine beaches in Costa Rica. Visit the Turtle Trax website to find out more.

Another wonderful organization that could use your help (and that I can vouch for as a former ranger)  is Project Biodiversity, located in Cabo Verde, Africa. They work tirelessly to protect one of the largest sites for nesting Loggerhead turtles in the world.

And don’t forget, there are sea turtles nesting on U.S. shores from Florida to North Carolina, and migrating throughout U.S. Atlantic and Pacific waters. Supporting local conservation initiatives is just as important as helping those abroad. For other opportunities helping turtles, both in the United States and internationally, visit seaturtle.org.
